Accessibility Statement

We want every visitor to be able to read about Chris RWK, browse the work and buy it - whatever technology they use.

Our commitment

This website aims to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We review the site against those success criteria as we add new work and features, and we treat accessibility issues as bugs.

What is built in

  • Semantic HTML landmarks: header, nav, main, section and footer on every page.
  • A "Skip to main content" link as the first item in the tab order.
  • One clear H1 per page and a logical heading order.
  • Descriptive alt text on every artwork and product image; decorative graphics use empty alt text.
  • Accessible names on all icon-only buttons.
  • Full keyboard operation for navigation, galleries, forms, wallet sign-in and claim submission.
  • Visible, high-contrast keyboard focus indicators.
  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1, and at least 3:1 for large text and interface elements.
  • Layout that reflows at 320 CSS pixels wide and supports browser zoom to 200% and beyond.
  • Pinch-to-zoom is never disabled.
  • Background video is muted and decorative; it never plays sound automatically.
  • The device's reduced-motion preference is respected, and moving content can be paused.
  • A plain HTML list of every artwork - title, artist, description, edition size, availability, price, details and purchase links - so the visual gallery and the 3D key are never the only way to discover or buy work.
  • Live regions announce wallet connection, claim status and errors to screen readers.

The accessibility menu

The "Accessibility" button in the main navigation opens a settings panel where you can change text size, switch on high-contrast or grayscale mode, choose a light or dark theme, underline all links, strengthen the focus indicator, reduce motion, pause background animations, or switch to a more readable font. Your choices are saved in your browser and stay active as you move around the site. This menu is an extra convenience - it is not a substitute for accessible code, and it is not a third-party overlay.

Known limitations

Parts of the digital collection and certificate galleries are supplied by the SUYE widget platform. Where that content is not fully accessible, the same works are listed in plain HTML on this site. Some historic artwork photographs may have shorter descriptions than we would like; we are improving these over time.
